Responsibilities and Duties:
The appointee shall demonstrate academic excellence and scholarship in teaching and instruction, research and publication and provide academic leadership to promote development in the ﬁeld.
The appointee shall be expected to:
Propagate research and application of e-learning to further enhance OUM’s reputation as the leading provider of personalised education;
Develop, promote and spearhead the acculturation of e-learning among OUM community of learners and practitioners;
Provide exposure to OUM academics staff on ways to incorporate e-learning tools for teaching and learning;
Conduct seminars for OUM staff on the latest development of e-learning tools and teaching methodologies;
Publish scholarly papers on current trends and innovative pedagogical strategies that incorporate the use of e-learning.
Qualiﬁcation and Experience:
Possess the minimum of a PhD degree or equivalent qualiﬁcation;
Serving or former Professor with at least 10 years of experience serving in the position at a reputable and recognized University
Excellent multidisciplinary and multidimensional track record with proven performance at professorial level in undergraduate and post graduate programmes, and experienced in teaching and supervision through open and distance mode:
Contributed signiﬁcantly to advance the body of knowledge in the ﬁeld as evidenced by notable and outstanding academic publications in leading international journals and is the recipient of prestigious academic awards and citations;
Experienced in curriculum / technology development in the ﬁeld;
Preferably has at least 5 years of industrial or related work experience in the ﬁeld:
Evidence of research leadership and proven ability to conduct independent/team research in the ﬁeld;
Exemptions: The University may waive any of the requirements mentioned above for a candidate who possesses extensive and current publications of international recognition on open and distance learning and has contributed signiﬁcantly to research that establishes him/her as an authority in the ﬁeld.
Terms of Service:
Appointment to the Endowed Chair shall initially be for a minimum period of 2 years with the possibility of renewal extension.
